Welcome to the Frazee-Vergas Hornet Kids Program. We are here to provide families with quality, trusting child care for elementary-age youth in kindergarten through 6th grade. (For the summer program, students who will be starting kindergarten in the fall are eligible.) It is the primary goal of our District to provide a safe, happy, and enriching supervised environment for our children attending this program.
Our Hornet Kids Programs are housed at the Frazee-Vergas Elementary School in Room #607 (former art room). You can access the school through Door #1. Flexible schedules are welcome, and participants only pay when in attendance. Youth attending Hornet Connection or participating in a sport or other activities can come before or after their event/activity. The After-School Hornet Kids program is designed so children do not have to leave the building after school to receive child care. The Summer Hornet Kids program is designed to provide families with all-day child care. Students, ages 5 and older, who will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2026 are eligible for Summer Hornet Kids. Participants can enjoy outdoor activities with access to playground equipment and indoor time includes crafts, games and activities.
The Hornet Kids program will provide families with all-day child care on no school days assuming there is enough interest to remain open. Those potential days of all-day child care are on the 2025-26 calendar below and highlighted in pink . The Hornet Kids program will provide families with child care when the District has early release days starting at 12:00 P.M. depending on availability of staff to cover those days. Those days are on the 2025-26 calendar below and highlighted in green .
It is the parents’ responsibility to notify Hornet Kids staff if their child(ren) is NOT attending Hornet Kids on their scheduled day. Messages can be left or texted to 218-298-4691 twenty-four hours a day.

Once your application is turned in, the Community Education Office will contact you to confirm your acceptance into the program. Please do not send your child(ren) until you receive notification confirming your family has a spot and when you can begin. Due to the popularity of our child care program, we strongly encourage families to register when registrations are accepted. Daily attendance is limited. Some days of the week may be near capacity or full. Please know if Hornet Kids is at capacity on the day(s) requested, you will be put on a waitlist and notified that you are on that list. Waitlist families will not be charged the registration fee until it is confirmed that they are in the program. It is not uncommon for a family's schedules to change, and a spot may become available at a later date.
