Targeted Services

Targeted Services is designed to enrich and reinforce classroom instruction, develop organization/school skills and provide small group activities to work on social skills. Hornet Connection is a fun and safe place for students to be after school. The purpose of Hornet Connection is to help qualified students become more successful in school. Students will be working with licensed teachers in small age/level appropriate groups.

Who: Qualified Frazee-Vergas students in grades K-8. Referral letters will go out the week of September 17th. If you do not receive a letter and feel your child could qualify, please contact Mrs. Oswald or your child’s classroom teacher.

What: Hands-on, active teaching approach in reading, writing, math, science and study skills. Team building and friendship skills are also stressed.

When: After school until 5:00 p.m. on Monday-Thursday when school is in session. (Kindergarten students meet on Monday and Wednesday only.) K-8 Hornet Connection will start in early October - ending in late April .

Cost: Hornet Connection/Targeted Services program is offered at no cost. It is provided by the state of Minnesota to provide quality instruction and activities for qualified students to become more successful in school.

Where: Hornet Connection is held at the Elementary School for grades K- 6th and at the High School for 7th & 8th graders. Classrooms will be announced.

Pick up: Transportation is not provided. All students need to be picked up at 5 p.m. Elementary students will meet parents at door #1. For the safety of our students, parents need to come to the door so that teachers can see who students are being released to. Latch Key offers a safe place for K - 6th grade students if they cannot be picked up at 5 p.m. Follow for information on Latch Key

How to register: Each child needs a completed registration form. Contact Michelle Oswald at 218-334-3181 extension 4202 or email for more information regarding registering your child for Hornet Connection. The Elementary office will also have registration packets for parents.
